About Me

Seriously Sinister Sketches of Sideways Social Situations started off as a few angry drawings on an airplane at 6:30 in the morning while I was on my way to Winnipeg in February. I started writing out all the shitty things I’d ever believed. I drew pictures of the moments that still haunted my mind. The moments that caused me instant rage, the ones that made me feel helpless.

Then I talked to other women. They talked about their experiences. I talked about mine. Men talked to me about harmful cultural norms. Most of them talked at me. Then I started drawing again.

I never stopped because the content is endless. Because I’m over the male point of view.

Some definitions:

“Feminism is a range of social movements, political movements, and ideologies that aim to define, establish, and achieve the political, economic, personal and social equality of the sexes. ” – Wikipedia. Because ignorance is a choice and Wikipedia is free.

“Intersectional Feminism is a theoretical framework for understanding how aspects of one’s social and political identities (gender, race, class, sexuality, ability, etc) might combine to create unique modes of discrimination. It aims to broaden the agenda of the first wave of feminism, which largely focused on the experiences of white, middle class women. The broad agenda means that intersectionality is used to find combinations or injustices that are felt by members of society.” – Wikipedia again. I highly recommend it.
